High resolution 3D point clouds
In cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology ISIT, Pepperl+Fuchs has combined high-performance distance measurement technology with MEMS technology.
This forms the basis for the 3D lidar/MEMS sensor R3000, which was presented as a product study at the Hannover Messe 2023. A small, inexpensive and mechanically robust MEMS mirror is integrated in the sensor. With the movement of the piezoelectrically driven element, the emitted laser beam is deflected in two axes by 40 x 30°.
Unlike conventional 3D sensors, there is no pixel grid when capturing the measuring field. Instead, the R3000 uses a small spot of light and gapless sampling to generate high-resolution 3D point clouds with high levels of detail.
