Magnetic position sensors with IO-Link

Hans Turck

05.09.22 - With the WIM-IOL series, Turck is expanding its range of compact position sensors for detecting magnetic pistons in pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders. The new series consists of eight sensors with IO-Link 1.1 that cover measuring ranges from 32 mm to 256 mm.

Via IO-Link and the integrated button, users can teach the measuring range of the sensors to the stroke of the pistons in the cylinder. This simplifies assembly compared to analog sensors, since these are either mounted exactly on the dead centers or have to work with correction factors in the controller. The IP67 sensors work with a resolution of 15 bits. Typical applications are feed detection in plastic injection molding machines or screwing machines, positioning the welding head in ultrasonic welding or monitoring the film tension in packaging machines.
