Time-of-Flight Camera for Precise 3D Object Detection

Lucid Vision Labs

04.05.2022 - Lucid Vision Labs presented the Helios 2+ Time-of-Flight camera at Control.

This is an enhanced version of the Helios 2 ToF camera that offers two additional in-camera processing modes: High Dynamic Range (HDR) and High Speed. HDR mode combines multiple exposures in the phase domain to provide optimized depth information in high-contrast and complex scenes containing high- and low-contrast objects. High-speed mode enables depth detection with a single-phase measurement, allowing for faster acquisition speeds and higher frame rates.

The Helios 2+ camera leverages the same robust industrial platform as the previous version and offers a seamless upgrade path for existing users. The Helios2+ uses Sony’s Depthsense IMX556PLR ToF image sensor and utilizes four 850 nm VCSEL laser diodes. The camera delivers a depth resolution of 640 x 480 pixels at a working distance of up to 8.3 m and a standard frame rate of 30 fps, or 103 fps in high-speed mode. Other features include six distance modes, a built-in ambient light filter, a wider field of view, multi-camera support, and a flying pixel filter. In-camera processing provides distance, intensity and confidence data, reducing the need for expensive host systems.
