Ethernet connectivity for space-critical sensors

Binder

As part of its 818 product series, Binder offers connectors in the M8 form factor with D coding.

They are predestined for industrial Ethernet applications with communication protocols such as EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP or Profinet according to IEEE 802.3 via category Cat 5e twisted pair cables. Accordingly, the four-pin plug connectors enable the network connection of actuators and sensors of particularly small size with data rates of up to 100 Mbit/s.

Equipped with a screw lock, the electromechanical connection meets the requirements for protection class IP67 when plugged in and locked. It thus offers appropriate protection against the effects of harsh, industrial environments. In addition to data communication, the hybrid M8 connectors with D coding take on the task of power supply in accordance with the IEEE 802.3at standard (Power-over-Ethernet-Plus, PoE+) for the connected devices.

The four-pole D-coded M8 connectors have gold-plated and symmetrically arranged contacts and are designed for more than 100 mating cycles. A rated voltage of 63 V(DC), a rated current of 4 A and a rated surge voltage of 1,500 V are specified for the products. The operating temperature range is from -25 °C to +85 °C (quiescent).

You can choose from shieldable products with screw terminals and shielded, molded cable connectors. While the former have a 4.0 to 5.5 mm cable outlet and are designed for 0.14 to 0.50 mm² conductors, the connection cross-section of the molded variants is 0.34 mm² (AWG 22).
