The fiscal year 2021 (Oct.-Sept.) went very well for Hamamatsu Photonics. Rising global demand, especially for semiconductor products, and the overall economic upturn also had a positive impact on sales at the Japanese phonotics specialist. In addition, demand for equipment for PCR testing and computed tomography remained high.

In combination with the expansion of production capacities, this brought the company sales growth of 20.5 percent to a good 220 million euros. Operating profit rose by 57.8 percent to around 96.3 million euros.

Hamamatsu expects demand to remain stable in fiscal 2022, which has just begun. The company is therefore planning for sales growth of 8.1 percent and a 12.2 percent increase in operating profit.
