Tofmotion contributes to pandemic research project

High Performance Computing in Life Science

17.03.2021 - Tofmotion is participating in the Ligate project, which is funded by the European research and innovation program "Horizon 2020". The public-private consortium aims to promote the use of high-performance computing (HPC) in drug development.

The Ligate consortium aims to explore the potential of supercomputing in the life sciences to better and faster address pandemic situations of supranational interest. As part of the project, Tofmotion is working in close cooperation with the University of Innsbruck to further develop Time of Flight 3D camera (ToF) simulations. "With this next joint step, we will be able to virtualize our camera to the limit of its physical properties and build a complete digital twin," said Tia Maria Troch, Head of Corporate Development & Strategy, at Tofmotion.

The consortium includes eleven institutions and companies in five European countries, including Politecnico di Milano (Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering), Cineca Interuniversity Consortium (Supercomputing Innovation and Applications), E4 Computer Engineering, University of Salerno, University of Basel, KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Department of Applied Physics), IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center and Chelonia Applied Science.
