Senswork opens development center for deep learning and AI

"Innovation Lab"

10.03.2021 - Senswork, an expert in machine vision, opens its Innovation Lab in Munich, where it researches solutions for optical inspection using deep learning and ai.

"We develop vision for machines and robots" is the guiding principle of the Senswork Innovation Lab in Munich, the latest flagship of the Burghausen-based company. There, it wants to pick up on innovative technologies at an early stage in order to make them usable for industry and research. "In this way, we are paving the way for the future of quality assurance," Rainer Obergrußberger, Managing Director of Senswork, is certain.

Big Data and hyperspectral machine vision

Currently, the company is working on image analysis of large data sets using neural networks, the generation and evaluation of high-resolution 3D measurement applications, and data acquisition outside the wavelength range that can be perceived by humans.

For the application of deep learning methods in machine vision, Senswork offers support throughout the entire planning and integration process. In order to analyze the feasibility of a task, a preliminary study is generally carried out. This requires image data of the process to be inspected, which is either already available at the customer's site or recorded on site using an machine vision system.

"When selecting a suitable toolkit, we are guided by the optimal solution," says Markus Schatzl, head of the Innovation Lab. "This can lie in the application of our own deep learning software Neuralyze as well as in the use of libraries from well-known software houses."

Senswork turns ten

Since its founding in 2011, the company has steadily grown and expanded its fields of activity. Regular customers in industry include companies such as Wacker, Rosenberger, Siemens and Alete. The systems are mainly used in the automotive sector, in mechanical engineering, in medical technology and in the electrical and food industries.

Today, almost 30 employees work at four locations, one of which was recently opened in Tennessee/USA, but the majority work at the headquarters in Burghausen on an area of 500 m2 with a workshop and test laboratory.
