MVTec changes responsibilities in product management

Merlic, Licensing and Interfaces

17.02.2021 - Christoph Wagner has been product manager for Merlic since September 1, 2020. He also remains responsible for Embedded Vision. Thomas Hopfner has held the newly created position of Product Manager Licensing and Interfaces since January 2021.

Christoph Wagner has been product and business development manager embedded vision at MVTec since 2017. Prior to that, Wagner was technical support manager and product manager for 2D and 3D profile sensors (optoelectronic sensors). The mechanical engineer and certified business economist gained more than ten years of experience in product management, technical support, and research and development in the field of machine vision.

Thomas Hopfner takes over the newly created position of Product Manager Licencing and Interfaces at MVTec. In this role, the expert for licensing and hardware interface standards can optimally contribute his experience. In addition, he will be responsible for the support and expansion of the Image Acquisition Partner Program.

The electrical engineering graduate began his career at MVTec in August 2005. One of Hopfner's first successes was the integration of embedded porting projects into the Halcon product licensing system, which enabled him to gain valuable experience in software licensing. Later, he became involved with image capture and developed, among other things, the widely used interface to the GigE Vision standard. This includes a Windows driver and thus enables Halcon users worldwide to integrate their GigE-Vision cameras. Through his dedicated participation in standardization committees, the Principal Software Engineer has contributed to the technical development of the GenICam, GigEVision and USB3 Vision standards. Additionally, he was technically responsible for the licensing technology used in MVTec products.
