Matrix Vision: Huge interface variety with Sony's new IMX174
Announcing the CMOS sensor IMX174 was a real thunderbolt by Sony: Their first global shutter CMOS sensor set standards in the field of dynamic, speed, quantum efficiency, and noise. For this reason Matrix Vision offers this sensor in a unique interface selection: Besides Dual-Gigabit Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet, the sensor will be also available for USB 3.0. The latter will be introduced on the Vision 2014 show in Stuttgart. The 1/1.2" sensor has a resolution of 1936 x 1214 pixels and reaches a frame rate of 128 fps with the Dual-GigE model mvBlueCougar-XD using the burst mode, 52 fps with the GigE family mvBlueCougar-X, and 162 fps with the USB 3.0 model mvBlueFox3. The high image quality even in situations with difficult light conditions ensures that challenging applications like traffic surveillance are mastered.
About the camera families
High transfer rates are no problem for the mvBlueCougar-XD Dual-GigE family: firstly Link Aggregation of both Gigabit Ethernet interfaces increases the net bandwidth to 240 MB/s and secondly the internal image memory guarantees a reliable image transfer. Furthermore the mvBlueCougar-XD camera can control motorized lenses (zoom, focus, aperture) and features 4 opto-isolated inputs with current limiters as well as 4 robust high-side solid state relays. Smart features like slow motion acquisitions and frame averaging are also available. The compact size and the different order options makes the mvBlueCougar-X GigE family suitable for nearly every application area. The camera offers a multitude of device based smart features like flatfield correction, color correction, white balancing etc. For this reason no host CPU power is needed. The 64 MB image memory guarantees a reliable image transfer and can be used as an image recording buffer. The camera is compliant to the GenICam and GigE Vision standards and drivers are available for both Windows and Linux. Furthermore the camera supports all GigE Vision compliant image processing libraries.
In spite of its size of 39 x 39 x 24 mm (B x H x D), the mvBlueFOX3 USB 3.0 family features make it a real giant: along with the integrated 256 Mbytes image memory, the mvBlueFOX3 has a huge FPGA with many smart features for image processing as well as 2/4 digital inputs and outputs. The camera family is compliant with the standards GenICam and USB3 Vision. Drivers are available for Linux and Windows. Furthermore, the camera is supported by image processing libraries which are compliant with USB3 Vision.
