New Halcon Interface for Sick 3D Cameras
The German companies MVTec Software and Sick have released a new interface for the Sick 3D cameras, This allows the smooth integration with MVTec's machine vision software Halcon.
The new Halcon 9.0 Sick-3DCamera interface is a unified interface for the complete series of Sick Ranger and Ruler cameras. The interface makes the whole functionality of the 3D cameras directly available in Halcon, including the unique MultiScan capacity to simultaneously acquire 3D and 2D data. Moreover, it is possible to acquire calibrated and rectified 3D data. Thus, the whole functionality of the Halcon library is ready to be applied, including operators for morphology, pattern matching, measuring, and 3D vision.
Fredrik Nilsson, the product manager for the Sick 3D cameras, explains:"This new interface will make it easy for integrators to use the high quality 3D and MultiScan data from our 3D cameras to build complete machine vision solutions with Halcon."
Customers who develop solutions for application areas like automotive & robotics, packaging, and life sciences can benefit from the easy integration of the Sick 3D cameras into Halcon. "This flexible acquisition of high speed 3D data is a perfect complement for Halcon", says MVTec's product manager Christoph Zierl.
