Basler Celebrates Opening of Camera Assembly Facilities in Singapore
30.07.2014 -
With the Asia Pacific market for digital industrial cameras growing faster than any other worldwide, Basler AG is expanding production of its ground-breaking ace series cameras to meet the explosive demand. A new, state-of-the-art facility, located in Singapore, will serve as the final assembly and distribution point for the most popular ace camera models. The locally assembled cameras will be sold to the Asia Pacific market only.
The brand new production line was conceived and built in Germany and employees at the new plant were thoroughly trained at Basler's headquarters before the line was shipped to Singapore. The rigorous quality assurance protocols that originated in Basler's German facility will be duplicated in the ultra-modern Singapore location. As in Germany, every camera will mechanically, optically and electronically be tested before it leaves the Singapore factory. The line also incorporates fully automated sensor positioning in order to guarantee consistency among all ace units sold and the highest quality standards at each production site.
Hardy Mehl, COO at Basler AG, expressed his enthusiasm: "We invested heavily in a modern and sophisticated production line and a professional production team. The advantages to Basler's customers are obvious: the expansion will significantly increase our production capacity resulting in flexibility and shorter lead times worldwide. This step will satisfy the growing demand of our Asia Pacific customers and importantly it will allow us to develop an even closer relationship with our customers." Mehl also notes that having two production facilities eliminates the risk of disrupted production due to fire or other unforeseeable disasters.
Every Basler camera, irrespective of the production location, will be backed by an exclusive 3-year warranty.
Basler ace cameras will start rolling off the Singapore facility's line in August 2014. Cameras for sale outside of Asia will continue to be manufactured in Germany.
