Edmund Optics Launches its 2012 European Award

Edmund Optics (EO) launches its 2012 "Edmund Optics European Research and Innovation Award". The program intends to support research and innovation in the field of optics/ imaging at universities and nonprofit research institutions located in Europe. The company encourages students, PhD candidates, lab managers, teaching assistants and lecturers working on research programs that both utilize and develop optical technology to apply for its award.

20% Prize Increase

The European award is part of a worldwide higher education grant program running in the Americas and Asia, which EO has increased by 20% for a total of $80,000 USD in products. This year, European research projects will be supported with product donations of a value of 7,000, 5,000 and 3,000 Euros respectively. In addition, the company will invite the three winners to the VISION 2012, a leading trade show for the imaging and vision industry held in Stuttgart, Germany.

Applying

Edmund Optics asks to apply via the Edmund Optics website at www.edmundoptics.com/research. The application requests information about the candidate, his/her institute, optics program, types of products selected if the respective program would be awarded. According to EO Marketing, the entire process would take less than 10 minutes. Applications will be reviewed internally by Edmund Optics experts and selected according to technical merit and innovative application of optics, with a particular emphasis on the life quality improvement aspect of the presented programs.

Finalists will be notified by July 25, 2012 and requested to send in detailed information on their project. The winners will be notified and announced on September 14, 2012.
